The Secret Life of Bees is an upcoming 2008 film, adapted from the novel by Sue Monk Kidd. The film is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Dakota Fanning portrays the main character and narrator Lily Owens, and Jennifer Hudson portrays Lily’s caregiver and only friend, Rosaleen Daise. The Boatwright sisters—August, May and June—will be played by Queen Latifah, Sophie Okonedo and Alicia Keys respectively. Hilarie Burton will play Deborah Owens and Paul Bettany will also play T Ray, Lily’s abusive father. Production began on January 7, 2008, in Lumberton, North Carolina.[1] and ended a few months later. The film will be screened at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival in September. It is scheduled for October 18, 2008 theatrical release.[2] This world premiere clip was released on June 17, 2008 on the Borders website.

I know that a lot of movie’s that are based off of the book are usually completely different or leave a lot of stuff out. Is the Secret Life of Bees like this? I have to read the book, but was wondering if I could just watch the movie.

I have been assigned to create an artitic project for The Secret Life of Bees such as a sculpture, painting, drawing…
I really want to do a drawing of something that relates to the book but I can’t think of a really good drawing that outstands other simple drawings of the explanation of the book. If you have any suggesitons they would be greatly appreciated.
